Nursing a 20 Month Old

The joys of nursing a 20 month old.
My first at this point was done and a while before that she was mostly down to right before bed.  This child is a nursing fiend and I don't have the will power at the moment to cut the sessions back, at least it's healthy stuff right??!
Here is what nursing a 20 month old can look like.
Ok that's enough we are doing side lying position!
Aww sleepy baby
So cute until she woke up right at the end of my shower. Right back to it.
I maybe should start putting my foot down a bit more but until I do this is my life; some moments I love it and some moments I hate it but she won't do this forever.
*not pictured are the "I'll stand while you lean over on the couch mom"
The "sit toddler on counter while mom stands"
And the "big sister is feeling left out so she will give toddler a hug while said toddler is attached to mom's nipple"

Picture Face

Little L is 16 months old now.  Time is just speeding by (sorry about the hiatus on the posts). Anywho this post is all about her picture face that has us cracking up lately.  She is in love with the camera.  Every time I pull it out to take a picture she makes the same face and it's not a smile, it's not a frown either at least, it's well how bout I just show you.
Ok last one, I don't know about you but I love it and can't help but chuckle when she makes her picture face. 😂

Overview of life with two so far

Well here is an attempt to get back to my previous goal of two posts a week.  Wish me luck because life with a toddler and a newborn is rough.  But for all of you who are reading I will truly make an effort.
Little L is a great little baby.  She barely cries, except when she is hungry or gassy.  She sleeps a lot still even at two weeks old.  I have to wake her to eat a lot of the time,  that's how much she sleeps.  Really that's great but it was a bit stressful at first because she lost more weight then she should have. She is past her birth weight though so I guess I can let that worry go now.  7lbs 9 oz at birth, 7 lbs 14 oz as of today.  :).
Man does this child poop though.  She loves to poop without a diaper, I have been sprayed more than once.  She takes forever to finish pooping too, I swear once 20 minutes was not even long enough to wait.  As a result we are going through a ton of diapers and washing a lot of blankets and clothes.  Oh well this too shall pass or will it?  Big L is still having a poop accident almost every day.
Big L does love being a big sister and has been nothing but sweet to her baby sister.  She says things like " I like this baby"  " baby sister came out your belly"  "I lobe baby sister". Melts my heart.

She can be a little rough around her though and gets mad when we tell her to be careful.  Really she gets mad when we tell her to do anything.  The terrible twos have hit and they have hit hard.  She does not listen, she yells and cries at the drop of a hat and won't calm down for anything, and she tells and my husband and I that we can't say things.  I'm on the search for new tactics on how to help her deal with her emotions.  Pray I find something that works because I might not have any hair left soon if she keeps this behavior up.
I know I could have it a lot worse.  I'm so thankful both of my kids are healthy and that little L sleeps well.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that she stays a good sleeper.  But no matter how good a day you have a full day with a toddler and a newborn is stressful and exhausting.
Check back in a few days and see if I was able to push out another post about my crazy life as a mother of two.

Strange Toddler Eating Habits

My daughter is a pretty good eater but sometimes I have to laugh and shake my head at her food choices.
She likes spinach, which is great.  I love that she likes a food that is so healthy.  Her favorite way to eat it though is straight from the freezer bag to her plate.  Easy for me, but for sure not the way I want to eat my spinach.  She also enjoys frozen mixed veggies.   Come to think of it she actually likes a lot of food cold.  I told her I would warm up some chicken for her for lunch one day and she cried.  She wanted the chicken but she wanted it cold.  Thinking back when she was younger, under a year, I would give her leftover oatmeal and malt O meal in congealed chunks.  She loved it, so maybe this love of cold food is my doing.  Well if it is or isn't I guess that's great because as strange as it might be, not having to warm up all her food is easier on me and I love easy.
L enjoying the frozen tomato that she just had to have.
One thing that did not make it into my veggie broth. :)

Another strange one is onions.  This is a resent development but she seems to really enjoy them plain.  I was cutting one up the other day, she grabbed the other half and took a big bite.  I thought she would not like it but she went back for seconds.  Since she enjoyed it then, I gave her a small handful for dinner last night and lunch today, since I was having some on my hotdog, She gobbled them up.
I won't try to change any of these eating preferences because I don't see the reason to but they will still leave me chuckling a little.
What are some of the strange eating habits your toddlers have?

Toddlers and their rocks

Saturday I put on a sweatshirt I had in the car, reached in the pocket and pulled out a rock, lol.  I thought 'that's when you know you're a mom'.  When else and for what other reason would you have a random, seemingly ugly, rock in your pocket?  The only explanation I can think of is your child loves rocks.
L does loves rocks.  She carried three rocks home from our walk the other day, the whole time saying "my rock collection".   There has been one in her car seat cup holder for weeks.  She is always pointing them out or picking them up when we are outside.
Not sure what she likes so much about these pieces of nature but I just figure it's part of being a kid.  Loving nature in its entirely, not so pretty rocks and all.  Really when you think about it thats kind of nice.  I wish I could see the beauty in a gray piece of hardened  earth the way she can.

Resigning to the fact that TV really is ok.

L, my two year old, has turned into a TV Lover.  This pregnancy has done that to her.  I have been exhausted for much of it, well I'll be honest for all of it.  I'm at 31 weeks so I'm just waiting for the nesting to kick in.
Back to the TV.  Today she told me today "I want to build a snow man".  Then she asked me where princess Anna is.  Lol you can add her to the list of Frozen lovers.
Daniel Tiger is still our all time favorite.  We have watched each eposoide more times than I can count.  I can't wait for September when the next season starts.  But I do kinda like the fuzzy guy.  Even if I have noticed L adding "mow mow"
(her cat sound) at the end of a few sentences.  There are good lessons in it and we use those silly jingles often.
PBS also puts out Curious George, she refers to this as just the monkey show.  We can't forget her first love Elmo.  She only liked the red guy at first but now she enjoys the whole gang.
Although I kept her away from the screen for about 18 months. I have now embraced this love.  While it should be used sparingly, and i dont enjoy the fit of "Daniel Iger, one more ime", it has some practical uses.  For example, when forced to be awake at 5:30 AM a 30 minute show gives me a chance to get some liquid energy in my body in peace so I can conquer a day full of two year old attitude.
